| Hows it work exactly? How much is needed to detect an item at all? How much fo 100% detection? How much for 100% detection with identification (not just a 'magic item')? Anyone know ? |

| perception is only in play for skua scrolls. All other items are based on sense magic. 200 mod sm gives 100% chance of success(except on skua scrolls). I'm sure LL has answered this question several times on this forum. use the search button. | |

| Actually I already PMed Ody about adding a guides search because of how disorganized this site is for retaining information in an orderly fashion.
All through the years Ive heard people say it was sense magic, then for years I heard people say no thats wrong its perception. Back and fourth without any official say so. Not saying LL did or didnt say anything about it. Only that I have not personally seen him or any credible source say it.
Whether its SM or Perc.. any idea how much? |

| U saying I'm not credible?
200 sm guarantees you will see everything that drops except skua scrolls. Both sm & percep come into play when a skua drops and I believe you need 200 mod of each to guarantee success.

| Unless you can show me where you have tested it, or ran a server or tell me where to find it in the V2 code then not particularly. Im looking for proof, not word of mouth. I take gods on faith because they've actually seen and modified said code..etc. 'Taking a players word on it' is what lead to my confusion in the matter on the first place, I hardly think doing the same thing is going to fix it. |

Less than 200 mod reduces the chances of detecting the item.
Your Google-Fu is weak.

Your Google-Fu is weak. You will all do the funky chicken dance or I will smite you with salmon slaps next I appear
Your "proof" is invalid. Try a link next time. |

Your laziness is astounding. try and search one of those complete sentences I just gave you. You can find your own link.

| Says the guy that will copy/paste a direct quote and carry on an entire convo but not a link.
Youll have to forgive me if I assume my searching is likely a waste of time when I cant find 50% of the things I know exist, muchless one I dont know of.
I gave up on using search when I realized "guides" will bring up the guides guides guides post, however "guide" will not. Yeah.. great search engine. |

| Was that so hard? I never would have found that googling because I have never in my life used the Site: parameter for a google search. I doubt if I have ever seen seen that command before.
That is exactly what I was looking for, ty. |

-
void do_ransack_corpse(int cn, int co, char *msg) { int in, n, t;
// Check for unique weapon in hand if ((in=ch[co].worn[WN_RHAND]) && is_unique(in) && ch[cn].skill[SK_SENSE][5] > RANDOM(200)) { do_char_log(cn, 0, msg, "a rare weapon"); } // Check for items in inventory /* SH 30.06.00 */ for (n=0; n<40; n++) { if (!(in=ch[co].item[n])) continue; t = it[in].temp; if(!(it[in].flags&IF_MAGIC)) continue; // this item havent 'magic' flag if (is_unique(in) && ch[cn].skill[SK_SENSE][5] > RANDOM(200)) { do_char_log(cn, 0, msg, "a rare weapon"); continue; } if (is_scroll(in) && ch[cn].skill[SK_SENSE][5] > RANDOM(200)) { do_char_log(cn, 0, msg, "a magical scroll"); continue; } if (is_potion(in) && ch[cn].skill[SK_SENSE][5] > RANDOM(200)) { do_char_log(cn, 0, msg, "a magical potion"); continue; } if ((it[in].placement&0x00) && ch[cn].skill[SK_SENSE][5] > RANDOM(200)) { do_char_log(cn, 0, msg, " a magical belt"); continue; } } }
