what is the punishment called "NO LAG" 1 week

i assume im banned for a week now. i can't believe it but hey, thats the sutton luck. we go on a trip to the mountains and end up with 2 flat tires and a ruined weekend. I just want to know if im really banned for a week. or if i'm not aloud to ...lag or something. the vagueness of that part of the rules is hard to understand because...well i dont normally need to read about rules as i don't ever intend to break them.

you know servers down and you're not actually banned right?

I see people cheat every hour it seems, it's my opinion people simply shouldn't be allowed to d/c at all, lag scrolls should not exist, tough luck. avoid the whole burden of proof thing all together. I certainly can't tell on everyone i'd be banned for that. Alot of you are friends so im sure there is favoritism that's fine, i get that. I just want to sarcastically thank all of you who try at every turn to bend or break the rules, especially when you think noone is looking, thank you for depriving me of enjoyment and presence within aranock. I missed it but i guess i forgot that I'm usually the whipping boy for the elite. disconnecting is NOT a function of the game. Seriously? You cant walk back? oh bother! i really cant do that! I DO IT ALL THE TIME. i walk back to the pents, i WALK back to BS i lose my stuff i grumble and mumble and shout and yell and pout but i follow the rules as best i can i dont try to bend or break them. Maybe i didnt read THAT rule, i didnt know you are ONLY specifically not allowed to disconnect for CERTAIN things, but apparently you can for OTHERS. is that it? do i have it RIGHT this time? i just htought it was NEVER under any circumstances allowed. unless you are a god. Lag scrolls are stupid. You have 1 or 2 rare occurrences that you MIGHT need one, and a thousand other times where you just WANT one.

I would like to be clear since i wasn't here, i disconnected because my wireless card is garbage and sometimes when someone else gets on the wireless i can...idk lose priority or something? whatever it is i just need to reconnect if that happens and im fine. i was fighting 3 grolms at around 50% health but it was only 3 and i wasn't going to die. But i guess had i known i was specifically not aloud to d/c myself during combat i would have recalled, or IDK i guess technically it is ok to DC if im not fighting so KILL them and then DC, i wish people didnt cheat here so i didnt have to wrry about this stuff. I'm sure everyone thinks i did it for that reason anyway. no reason to believe me when everyone else seems to do it.

also i never use forums or post. im enjoying digging myself deeper like this, i just wanted to say i know its allowed. i just rarely type that word. and forget it exists in that form. so i allowed myself to be ignorant =p

1) You were warned, you haven't/might not get punished
2) as soon as i log on i see you instantly disconnect then reconnect with 50%ish health, I agree you might not have lagged out but most people would have healed/used spells/learnt about the mana pot trick in pents so you can have spells/heal self in pents...
3) everyone is currently off the server as it has crashed

I'm doing my job and as i currently see it you're in the wrong, until a god can prove me wrong (or you videoed it all happening/have your own computer logs)

No lag means that you wont have the ability to use lag scrolls. It was intended to discourage the misuse of lag scrolls. The person giving the punishment sets the duration and can explain the reason for the punishment.

/lag # will set how long it takes for you to be not communicating with the server for the game to turn you to stone (causing you to be unkillable, saving you in case of extreme lag cases).

/lag 3 is the minimum, other than 0. If you set /lag 0, you will no longer ever turn to stone.

If you would prefer not to turn to stone when you seemingly disconnect for the server for a short period of time or completely, then type /lag 0. However, this will not effect lag scrolls, which I believe NOLAG punishment does?

Edit: Also keep in mind, you can still be punished for excessive lagging out even if you're lag 0 and don't have lag scrolls. You could still be lagging out of death, and short of them adding a new thing that makes you stick around in game for longer if you disconnect, this will always be something that only a human can watch for. If you have serious lag/disconnect issues with your ISP, your best bet is to talk directly to the staff in a respectful manner, explain to them the situation, and hope that they trust that you're not abusing it.

(As a side thought, when someone disconnects, you could track their hp/location and probably store it in their character's data. For tests such as these, it may be able to just review said log of information to see if they only lag out when they have low health or in an area that would seem to indicate lagging out. Would be a large piece of code, complex, but would be very interesting)

If I was a carebear i'd be the purple one ysmay. As for /nolag RavingTyrant -it is not a ban, it simply denies you the ability to use lag scrolls for a small amount of time. It activated automatically because the server recognized that you met the per-determined parameters that meant that you could have been abusing the lag function, and it initiated a protocol that prohibits that function thus prevent it from being abused. It is not a punishment per say but a preventative measure which doesn't tend to disadvantage innocent people too often.

However if you've been caught up in this innocently RavingTyrant then it is likely for one of the reasons below:

1) You lost connection during combat in a volatile area when your health was below 50%
2) Your health was below 50% in a safe zone when the server crashed and the /nolag was activated by bug.

In both accounts please accept my apology. Staff will never knowingly allow the punishment of those who have genuine connection issues.

If however im mistaken about your good nature and your lag out was intentional to avoid death then rest assured that the server will keep on catching you out and will even alert staff to your activity, for this i cannot apologize
